But to make it even more convenient you can install the TwitterFox Plugin for FireFox that I talked about earlier. Not only will you be able to update your Facebook from the browser or share a page with your facebook friends by clicking a link-icon in TwitterFox, you will also be able to follow what your friends are Twitting about. About that later…
Now the steps to install TwitterFox in your FireFox browser… Adding the Twitterfox Plugin as the same as adding other plugins for FireFox - so feel free to search for other plugins that will interest you.
Adding the Twitterfox application:
- Go to the Mozilla Addon Website and search for “TwitterFox” or goto the TwitterFox Adon Page directly.
- Click “Add to Firefox” button.
- Click “Install now”
- Click “Restart Firefox”
- Tick “Do not ask me next time” & Click “Restart FireFox”
- Once FireFox restarted it, close the “Addons” window”
- Do you see a Twitter “t” logo at the bottom?
- If yes then your Twitter now needs to be setup, and if not showing then you just have to install a compatible FireFox theme. Do not worry as it is easy to do and I will take you through the steps…
TwitterFox do not work in the default theme and this may require you to update your theme. It is about time as there are so many themes out there that you use to personolize your FireFox Browser.
Steps to install a new theme for your FireFox:
- Open the FireFox Add-Ons Page where you downloaded Twitterfox
- Click on “Categories”
- Click “Themes”
- Click On “Browse Themes” for a wider choice.
- Choose a theme you like
- A green “Add to FireFox” button will indicate that it will work with your FireFox.
- Click the green “Add to FireFox” button
- Click “install now”
- Click “Restart FireFox”
Your Firefox Web Bowser now has a new look. This gives you two options:
- Do you like the theme? If not then go change the theme again
- Is the TwitterFox “t”-logo showing on the bottom right? If not then go change the theme again.
I believe by now you have the “t”-logo of TwitterFox displayed in your FireFox Web Browser and you have to set your TwitterFox to collect your Twitter information and Send out your Tweets to Twitter.
Steps to Add you Twitter Account to your TwitterFox:
- Right click on the T-logo - click preferences - click “add acount”
- add your Twitter username and password” - click OK
- Choose intervals that Twitterfox must check for Updates - click OK
If you get an error…:
- You just entered your Twitter account details incorrectly
- Right click on the t-logo
- Click “Preferences”
- Click “Remove Account”
- Click “Add Acount” like above and try again.
Testing your Twitterfox:
- Click on the T-logo
- You should see a list of my latest tweets.
- Make sure that blog post you are reading is in the background
- Write in the space below my tweets your comment on having succesfully installed TwitterFox but do not use the “ENTER” on your keyboard.
- Click the small icon that looks like a link of a chain. It should insert a link in your Tweet.
- Press enter to update your status.
- You can close the Twitterfox window.
- Open Twitter.com to see that your update is there.
- Open your facebook homepage to see that your facebook status is also updated.
